Manifesto
Dear Stranger,
Whether it was curiosity, good taste or moral blackmail that drew you to this site allow us to welcome you into the world of The Counterfit. We hope over the coming weeks and months to shine a guiding light in the direction of decent music, witty one liners and honest opinion.
The Counterfit was inspired by a summer filing through old Smash Hits archives searching for any swill (‘The Bubbles Story’ included) on the recently deceased Michael Jackson. Within these once hallowed pages one could happily find the Jesus and The Mary Chain share company with the Pet Shop Boys, the review of Bananarama’s new seven inch flanked by The Cure’s and a long standing obsession with The Smiths.
It’s this spirit of rampant eclecticism that we hope to recreate. In an art form where appearance is of the utmost importance, our approach is to chuck everything together Royal Rumble style and see what comes out on top. Most comment is free but we’d like to think ours is worth something.
