They’re Backular, It’s Almost Spectacular

Ok we’ll be honest here. When Brooklyn’s MGMT decided that they weren’t going to release any singles from their forthcoming follow-up to Oracular Spectacular we were concerned because, frankly the singles were the only good thing about Oracular Spectacular. Having heard Celebration’s free to download single ‘Flash Delirium’ though, we are tentatively confident for the outcome final product.

Such raised expectations primarily stem from the fact ‘Flash Delirium’ is a single in all but name. Despite seemingly chucking all possible musical genres into a melting pot and hoping for the best, by luck or judgement what Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden have actually come out with is a psychedelic pop gem. Sure it’s no ‘Time To Pretend’ but Extras was no The Office and most people seemed to manage to get over that one…
