We Miss The Pipettes :-(

The_Pipettes

The Pipettes were one of those bands that got chewed up and spat out in the hype maelstrom before anyone had the chance to ascertain whether they were any good or not. As it turns out, they had two amazing singles and an underwhelming album in the closet. Still ‘Pull Shapes’ and ‘Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me’ were so fun that we occasionally hanker for a single with the same 50s sheen and  matching dance routines.

After a small bit of research it turns out as of 18th April 2008 no original members of The Pipettes remained leaving Gwenno, the relative veteran of their debut album We Are The Pipettes,  to soldier on with two new recruits Beth Mburu-Bowie and Ani Saunders. Think of the band now as the Sugababes with no top 20 singles.

Wikipedia spuriously tells us that a new track called ‘Stop The Music’ was played on BBC Wales in November 2009 with the DJ saying that it will be released in February 2010 although further research has turned up nothing. This makes us sad…
